From Static to PTZ: Upgrading Infrastructure and Catching Nature in Action

At Matter Integration Ltd, we always appreciate when an installation goes smoothly—and even more so when the new hardware immediately proves its worth in unexpected ways. We recently completed a site upgrade, replacing an ageing static camera setup with a highly versatile Uniview PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera.

The original system was utilising a legacy IP over Coax connection, which was due for a much-needed modernisation. Our team completely overhauled the physical infrastructure to support the new technology. We removed the old wiring, installed new cable conduit, and laid out ducting, which is currently prepped and awaiting the groundworks team to bury. The decision to install new ducting was to provide a firm base for future expansion, keeping one step ahead of the sites growth.

Once the hardware was securely mounted and wired, we seamlessly reconnected the new PTZ camera to the site's existing Milestone XProtect system. To ensure optimal coverage of the area, we also took the time to configure multiple presets, allowing the system to easily sweep and monitor key zones on command.

We always test our systems thoroughly to ensure image clarity and responsiveness, but the environment decided to provide its own test subject. Within just one hour of installation, the system captured a stunning, crystal-clear shot of a bird of prey taking flight right off the equipment.

It is a fantastic demonstration of the camera's sharp resolution and a great reminder of why upgrading your site's hardware is always a worthy investment!
